Struggling with losing weight? These three factors could be the culprit

When you are trying to lose weight but don’t see any results, it’s time to stop, reflect and ask yourself, “Am I taking the right actions personalised to me to lose weight”? This blog post will shed light on three specific factors that could be the culprit for not losing weight.

In our previous blog post Is your weight-loss approach sustainable, we concluded that the best weight-loss approach you can take is sustainable. The most efficient sustainable weight-loss approaches are personalised entirely to you. But there are three more factors I consider important because they limit your weight loss.

Let’s dive into these three factors.

Three factors that could be the culprit for seeing no weight-loss results

These three factors are what stops people from reaching their target weight-loss goal. If you learn how to correct them or eliminate them, you will surely lose weight.

Factor 1: The mindset

Many people wish to lose weight, and they approach it in a lighthearted way, not doing what they really need to do to lose weight. If you have this type of mindset, you will struggle very much to lose lose weight. The mindset is everything.

  1. Is losing weight my highest priority at the moment?
  2. Am I willing to sacrifice my current lifestyle and habits to adopt a new healthier lifestyle?
  3. Am I ready to disconnect from people who are not supportive of my goal?
  4. Do I know what it will take to accomplish my weight loss goal?

The first one is the most important question. Is losing weight your highest priority? If it is, then you need to show it with your actions. Don’t tell people what you are going to do. Show them.

One of the most frequent excuses people make when they say why they don’t exercise regularly is I don’t have time. If you are serious about losing weight, then you have to create time in your schedule. The truth is all you have is time, the same amount as everybody else. When something is your priority, you do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Factor 2: The approach

There is a right and wrong approach to losing weight. The wrong approach involves following a generalised exercise and nutritional programme or copying somebody else’s approach. Please remember: What works for one person rarely works for the other.

Did you know that people can stop or slow down your weight-loss progress completely? Hang around with the wrong people ( negative people, don’t care about exercise and nutrition, who smoke or drink) and your chances of achieving your weight-loss goal become very slim.

It’s time to assess your friends. If you are really serious about losing weight, ask yourself these three questions:

  • Are my friends positive and optimistic?
  • Do my friends exercise regularly and eat healthy food?
  • Do my friends have goals, and are they going places?

If you answered no to all three questions, maybe it’s time to find new friends. Ideally, when the goal is losing weight, I recommend surrounding yourself with people who are on the same weight-loss journey as you. But make sure those people are just as positive and determined as you.
